Every Map Tells A Story
North Yorkshire County Records Office
Sat 03 Oct 10am - 3pm
Explore the world of maps by personalising your very own map of Northallerton with journeys, locations and places special to you This year the Record Office is excited to be involved with The Big Draw: an annual drawing festival which sees galleries, museums and heritage sites across the country hold events for anyone who loves to draw, as well as those who think they can't!
On Saturday 3rd October we invite you to personalise your own map of Northallerton. Draw, write or mark journeys, locations, or special places onto a series of historic and modern maps. Show how you live, work and play in the county town.

How do you use the High Street?
What journey do you take to school?
Where do you meet your friends?
How do you think your ancestors used the town?

Meet the ‘Map Men’ from County Hall who will project historic to present day plans of Northallerton and show you how to access historic maps online.
Also on display for the month of October will be an exhibition of maps from the archives, showing how and why they are made.
