Russell Walker, Illustrator, Designer, Image Maker and Educator is one of the founding members of The Big Draw and was one of the principal contributors of our launch event in 2000 at The British Museum. He was also a live drawing contributor at our ‘Draw The World’ day at the V&A Gallery in 2002, working alongside Quentin Blake, Gerald Scarfe and many others.
Russell has been making images for brands and clients from all over the world, for more than 4 decades. No topic or theme has avoided his visual interrogation, from pasta to poodles. His strong distinctive style has assured his popularity with advertising, design and publishing agencies across the globe. Selective clients include: BBC, British Airways, EMI Records, Harley Davidson, Hasbro Europe, IBM USA, Lacoste Paris, La Perla Milan, M&S, National Children’s Museum, Oxford University Press, Royal Mail...Magazines, Packaging, Books, Records, Advertising, Branding, Events, Instillations, winning many awards along the way.
Working directly parallel to his creative practice, Russell has been a senior lecturer at numerous universities and colleges, teaching at all levels of FE and HE education. Supporting the creative development of students to communicate ideas and concepts through a range of traditional and digital media, helping people to change the way they perceive drawing from ‘I can’t draw’ into ‘I can draw, and I do’.
