Have a quick tour behind the scenes, then have a go at drawing some of our wonderful objects using recycled materials and scribers.
As part of The Big Draw Festival’s 2020 theme, A Climate of Change, we will be offering a sneaky peek behind the scenes of our major building project, Common Ground in Sacred Space, meet some of the key people and stories behind our inspirational place and have a go at drawing and etching on some of the materials recycled from the Cathedral refurbishment. Each space in the Cathedral reveals a unique story of the heritage and people of Newcastle upon Tyne. You will get a chance to glimpse at some of the changes taking place and learn a bit more about life and art in the Cathedral. The second part of the event will provide the opportunity to create and take home your own masterpiece taking inspiration from the beautifully crafted interiors using recycled black slate and scribers or pencils. This project is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
