Westenhanger station
Westenhanger Station opened in 1844 and was originally designed to serve the residents of Hythe. It has seen many changes over time, with construction of Channel Tunnel rail link in the 1990’s which required a new bridge to be built to provide access to Platform 2. The station building built in 1861 was considered grand for such a small station and has different coloured bricks on west side. There are plans to develop Westenhanger Station to be part of the High Speed Rail Network when the garden town at Otterpool Park is created meaning the 68miles to St Pancras will be accessed in just 55minutes.
Join us at Westenhanger Station with Rob McDonald (senior lecturer at the UCA) to be guided in capturing this historic railway station’s raw edge before it enters a new modern phase of its physicality while thinking about the personal journey’s that have been taken on the line over time.
Materials will be provided but you are also free to bring your own art materials and create your own independent masterpiece.
Suitable for all levels of experience.
