Sat 26 Oct 10am - 2pm
Come and draw on Huge sheets of paper over 2 metres wide and create an evolving piece of artwork. Everyone is invited to make their mark. It will be free to take part and no drawing or art experience is necessary. There will be plenty of help and assistance on hand.
Based on the concept of Autumn Forests the aim is to make this opportunity open to as many people as possible. Anyone can draw a tree, you could just draw a stick with a lollipop on top; and Autumn naturally suggests a multitude of bright colours’.
Every Saturday from 28th September until Saturday 26th of October people can come to the studio between 10am and 2pm and take part on a drop-in basis. Each week the artwork will be worked on and added to in the studio. At the end of each session they will be displayed in Keynsham Library.
It is very much a collaboration. An evolving piece of public art created by people from within the Keynsham community and beyond’.
There will be pens, pencils, markers, inks etc available and you are free to draw anything you would expect or like to see in a forest; birds, flowers, animals, insects, trees, leaves, fungi, seeds, nuts, vines, dinosaurs etc.
As the pictures are added to each week the artwork will grow and evolve. People can come and draw on the wall in the studio, or for those that can’t manage or reach we will have paper, card and stencils on tables that you can use. Anyone who is unable to get to the Studio can draw or paint something at home and send or drop it into the Art Studio.
This is very much a free-for-all collaboration. If anyone would like to submit a piece of work but does not want it to be added to or drawn over I will be creating a scrap book to keep them in, but you must let me know otherwise I will assume it is to be incorporated into the rest of the artwork.
Please feel free to share any pictures of your artwork on social media and please don’t forget to use the hashtags #The_Big_Draw and #DrawnInKeynsham
I would very much like to thank St Monica Trust for their support, both for this project and for the Art & Pottery Studio at The Chocolate Quarter in Keynsham.
