BAM'S BIG DRAW MONTH
with Bury Art Museum
Part of Sketchbook Still Social
Bury Art Museum and Sculpture Centre
Drawing prompts everyday leading to Postcard auction in November and Spirit of a Place exhibition in January
In March, Bury Art Museum launched Sketchbook Still Social, a Facebook page inspired by the long-running 'Sketchbook Social' community which encourages drawing for everyone of all ages and abilities, online and IRL.
We asked our new Sketchbook Still Social followers to 'isolate and create' which has grown into a whole new online drawing community which reaches beyond Bury.
During October, we'll be asking followers to get involved in The Big Draw by sharing drawing prompts and themes on the Sketchbook Still Social page - new followers welcome! We're hoping everyone will be inspired to create postcard-sized art which will be included in a charity postcard auction and displayed in the main gallery during November. More information will be shared on the Sketchbook Still Social page!
We'll still be encouraging everyone to enjoy urban sketching by using our Spirit of a Place Sketch-Zine, available free at the art museum. Visitors will be able to use the Zine and it’s informative fold out map to discover the rich historic visual delights on one stretch of road alongside the gallery. We aim for this project to grow and include different creative forms not just drawing, starting with a small exhibition on our ring balcony space at the end of January 2021.
