Big Draw: Taking a Line for a Walk - Abstract illustration
Jill Carpin
Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft
Sun 15 Aug 11am - 12.30pm
Sun 15 Aug 3pm - 4.30pm
Using traditional artist techniques you will let your imagination wander into fantastical places and translate them onto paper. This art workshop for 7 year olds and over, will guide you step by step on creating an abstract continuous line drawing filled with colour and creativity.

Activity 1 : An abstract ‘walk the line’ artwork and colour it in using a variety of materials (pencils, paint, marker, crayons).
Activity 2: A continuous line drawn self portrait
Activity 3: Another walk the line drawing but this time trying to incorporate shapes into it, it could be a landscape, somewhere in their imagination (e.g. a rocket in space with stars and a galaxy).

Jill Carpin is an illustrator, designer and animator based in Brighton. She has a passion for bright colours and bold shapes and takes inspiration from her childhood home of The Seychelles, using it to create her tropical nature inspired designs. See more of her work at
