Come Back to Colour: Celebrate the Colours of Autumn
Stockton Brook Studios with artists Louise Adams & Mark Delf
Stockton Brook Scout & Guide HQ
Sun 23 Oct 11:00 - 15:00
Celebrate the colours and shapes of Autumn through looking and drawing, from a seasonal Nature Table and the world outside. Join us for a creative family drawing event at Stockton Brook. All materials are provided.
We are artists/designers/educators and are hosting this event for Stockton Brook Time & Space CIC, set up in 2020 to continue the restoration of the Stockton Brook Water Works to create a centre for Art, Nature and Heritage in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
This community Big Draw event celebrates Autumn on 20 acres of land in the Staffordshire Moorlands, through art and nature activities that highlight biodiversity, climate change and the need to restore and maintain wild habitats. This year's Big Draw theme, “Come Back to Colour' is a perfect opportunity for us to explore the colours of Autumn through the flora and fauna of the landscape here. We hosted an Art & Nature event in the wildflower meadow here on National Meadows Day, with walks through the meadow with an ecologist, and art workshops inside. This day was really popular, and people were so keen to find out more. Our Autumn event continues the story of the land here, farmed for wildlife and biodiversity. We feel strongly that the issues of climate change and biodiversity can be understood and highlighted through art. Drawing something means really looking and thinking, and we hope that you will enjoy time and space here to do this.
We plan these activities and workshops through the day -
A Nature Table This will be inside; educational and visual, lots to see, study and draw.
Make a Nature Journal  Create a small book to record your Autumn. Look at ways and examples of noting and drawing what you see and find.
Autumn Printmaking Printing with Autumn Leaves
Drawing Outside A chance to look at the different habitats here, from woodland to wetland, to draw them outside. This is a really wonderful thing to do, and marks the time in a way that lasts.
Refreshments will be available for a donation, and you are welcome to bring a packed lunch.
Please come prepared for walking outside and the weather!
We are delighted to have funding towards this event from Staffordshire Moorlands District Council Community Climate and Nature Action Fund.
