Drawn to Life
Part of The BIG Draw The d.@rt Centre
Sat 19 Oct 12am - 7pm
A fun and art filled day to celebrate and explore the benefits of being actively creative to make positive change and improve wellbeing! Enjoy taking part in a variety of exciting art workshops designed for both children and adults. Listen to performances from local musicians. Browse our craft stalls. View artwork created leading up to the event which has contributed to something even bigger… We would like to celebrate and explore the benefits of being actively creative by holding a number of mindful and fun activities on and leading up to Saturday 19th October.

Our aim is to get the whole community involved to reinforce the importance and fact that creative life really can improve your health!

On the event day, 19th October, there will be a wide range of workshops, performances, craft stalls, a film screening and a 'magical forest'.

The 'magical forest' will be created out of the artwork created by members of our community on and leading up to the day. The idea behind the Magical Forest is when people walk through, they are inspired by the work that they see and encouraged to just live in this moment and forget everything on the outside.

In order to achieve this, we have offered some crafty workshops to Primary schools. The d.@rt team will be going in to three different Primary Schools in September to work with large groups of varied ages. A different workshop per school creating various art pieces out of recycled items, which will make up part of the forest.

We will also be working with our elders to create some more magical pieces and our knit and natter group creating jumpers for trees and dream catchers for the forest.

On the day of our event, people can enjoy taking part in a variety of exciting art workshops, collecting stamps along the way to get a BIG Draw certificate. Entry is just £2, giving you access to view the magical forest, a variety of drop in activities to contribute to the forest, to listen to some performances from local musicians and browse craft stalls from local artists.

In the afternoon, guests can buy in to some
workshops taken by talented artists, where they can learn the basics or develop existing skills with like minded artists. Mindful workshops such as Monoprinting, Zinemaking and Drawn 2 Yoga where guests can explore the relationship between movement, the breath and art.

The fun doesn't stop there as we are also opening our Wave cinema facility, where we will be screening a family film of Aladdin (2019).

We will be supporting MIND charity throughout the event. To highlight this
there will be a floral needlework workshop where guests can simply join in and donate!

There is lots to get involved with at the d.@rt centre's BIG Draw event and we would love to see lots of people getting creative and having fun.
