This Halloween bring the whole family along to RWA and experience the galleries by torchlight, with Halloween-themed children's art workshops, drinks, nibbles and more! Who knows what you will find as you make your way around? Explore the 167 Annual Open Exhibition - only in the dark! Take part in a spooky exhibition trail, or pick up a self-led drawing activity and take part in The Big Draw. This Halloween bring the whole family along to RWA and experience the galleries by torchlight, with Halloween-themed children's art workshops, drinks, nibbles and more!
Who knows what you will find as you make your way around?
Workshops include ink drawings of a skull, Halloween silhouettes and making your own slime!

Explore the 167 Annual Open Exhibition - only in the dark! Take part in a spooky exhibition trail, or pick up a self-led drawing activity and take part in The Big Draw. 

The Big Draw activities for children and families include options such as:
  • drawing an artwork that really intrigues you, but without looking at the paper as you draw
  • drawing with white chalk onto black paper to capture light and dark in stark contrast and   
  • without a torch, draw what you can in the darkness...then bring your drawing out into the light to see what you have created!  
Children must be accompanied by an adult, suitable for children aged 4-12. Please remember there will be will be low lighting and some spooky faces!

Family Friendly Facilities: Families and school groups are always welcome at the RWA. Entry for under 16s is free and the aim is to encourage participation from all our visitors and to instil in them a love of art! The RWA provides level access into the building and ground floor cafe/shop, a lift for pushchairs to reach our first floor galleries, and the baby change toilets and exhibition spaces on the basement level. They are happy to look after your buggy if you’d like to leave it by reception while you look around.
Accessibility:
The RWA has disabled access through its main entrance and level access to the cafe and shop on the Ground Floor. There is lift access to the Main Galleries on the First Floor as well as access to the Long Gallery and accessible toilet on the Lower Ground Floor. Please feel free to ask for assistance upon arrival, should you require it. Their Front of House staff and volunteers are more than happy to assist you during your visit.
