Misha Pankin: Visual Music
Misha Pankin and Students across KS3,4,5 with Inspired by James Mayhew and Kandinsky
Part of 1 of series The Purcell School
Thu 06 Oct Lunchtime
The students had such a fab time for the "Big Draw: Come back to colour" event, where a fab student played the accordion, a very interesting instrument, evoking lots of shapes, colours, feelings for the other student participants, to draw and mark make along to the music to trying to capture what they feel about the music. Surrounding the event we have taught the students about Kandinsky, Synesthesia and a variety of music related art responses and spoke about the importance of drawing/doodling and mark making. Being something deeply ingrained.
The three songs had a totally different feel, you can really see this in the marks made by the students. About 30 students across all keystages responded over the 20 min set to produce this beautiful outcome capturing the event. We will run it again in some way to refine and finish it a bit further. This is now the first of a few as we want to do some more for different instruments and songs and make a series based on the Big Draw theme this year.
