On the Road to Change

Workers Gallery Studio
Thu 01 Oct
Draw a miniature sculpture of your current, fantasy or future home and it will be added to the 'Road to Change' When we know more about other people's daily lives & their culture. We discover a little about where and how they live and we learn more about our big beautiful and wonderfully diverse world! We are all neighbours on this big planet of ours!

So why not create a global road where we can all live together?

On the Road to Change is your chance to 'live' on that road

Share a drawing of the home where you live with us - and we will add it to our Road for Change. BUT! It's not just a drawing we are looking for - it's a miniature home!

We will send you miniature blank wooden house-shaped blocks. These are made from off cuts of wood that are surplus to the local manufacturing of furniture.

Take a look at their simple forms and do some designing on paper, your computer or sketchbook. We'd love to see what your home looks like, or maybe their is a symbol or object that means 'home' to you. It could be a drawing of your home now or a fantasy home of the future that you would like to live in. It could be a drawing of your pet, your bicycle, your friends or family. Think about what you would like people to know about you and where you live.

Don't forget the house block has two sides - so you can have more than 1 idea! Or get a friend to decorate the other side?

And if you don't like it...you can always sand your drawing away (but make sure an adult helps you with this as you'll need to wear a dust mask).

Decorate your house using pencils, pens, collage, ink...whatever you like - just enjoy it and be creative!

When you have finished your wonderful creation...
Send us a photograph of your creation online with  #myroad2change and we'll share online. You can keep it or give it as or gift  or post your miniature house back to us and it will be exhibited along with others at a special exhibition in my studio at the Workers Gallery in late November 2020. We'll then recycle it for you!

Miniature house drawing blocks will be available to purchase from www.workersgallery.co.uk from 1-31 October 2020.
Packs of blocks start from £10.
Any questions - please get in touch and if you are a school or club and you need a big bag of blocks be sure to get in touch!
