The Big Draw - Make a change for Gainsborough
Townscape Heritage Initiative and Shaun Clark (ceramic artist)
Gainsborough Old Hall
Sketching the medieval herb gardens teaming with plants and insects to then create a medieval tile in clay, decorated with nature themes.
Come along with your sketch pad or borrow materials from us to sketch the flowers and insects that live alongside the medieval brickwork of Gainsborough Old Hall. Our knowledgeable guides will tell you of the close relationship people had with nature which was an integral part of everyday life, providing food and medicine on the very doorstep of historic households.
Sat 25 Sep
11am until 4pm
Then create a beautiful clay tile under the guidance of our ceramic artist, Shaun Clark, from Whiskerhills Pottery. Using coloured slip to paint the detail into your tile, you can then take it home to air-dry, or Shaun may ask if your tile can be taken back to his kiln and fired, to be included in a temporary display panel at the Old Hall. You will then be invited back to collect your fired clay tile a month later.
