Workshop: Concept Mapping
Elyssa Sykes-Smith
with Eye to Pencil
Part of Summer Evening Workshops
Eye to Pencil Studio
As part of our summer evening series, Elyssa Sykes-Smith will be running a concept-mapping workshop, using her sculpture ‘Reclaimed Chaos’ as a starting point for drawing and mapping.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Elyssa is an interdisciplinary artist working with sculpture, installation, film, and performance. Drawing is at the core of her practice, and is a tool for thinking, research, and for developing large-scale sculpture and multimedia works.
Elyssa recently obtained a MFA from Architectural Association School of Architecture, London, and holds a BFA (Hons) in Sculpture at National Art School, Sydney.
Format: Our summer series of workshops will focus on extending drawing through low-tech, low cost, DIY techniques, with the aim to share skills. Workshop leaders will give a brief introduction to their practice, followed by a short demonstration of their approach with materials. See how emerging creatives are using drawing in their practices, and have a go yourself, to learn the rudiments of new techniques.
