Chris Francis
Part of Guest Series
Eye to Pencil Studio
Taking inspiration from Artpedagogy’s Threshold Concepts for Art, this experimental drawing workshop led by Chris Francis will playfully explore (and challenge) notions of the ‘traditional’, ‘modern’ and ‘contemporary’.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Participants will experience a range of approaches to making and thinking about drawings. In addition, the potential of words - within and alongside drawings, as lines and marks that shift and shape meanings – will also be called into play. Participants will be encouraged to work on a variety of scales using a range of media in both two and three dimensions.

BIO
Chris Francis is an arts educator, illustrator and co-founder of ArtPedagogy and PhotoPedagogy, two popular online resources for artists, educators and students. Chris best summarises his creative practice as ‘serious mischief’ – an ongoing quest to unpick art and art education via thinking hard coupled with less predictable actions and collaborations, be it material-led play, automatic drawings, collaborative interventions, or throwing a timely spanner in the works.
