Chris Francis
Part of Guest Series Eye to Pencil Studio
Wed 15 Feb 10am-4pm
Taking inspiration from Artpedagogy’s Threshold Concepts for Art, this experimental drawing workshop led by Chris Francis will playfully explore (and challenge) notions of the ‘traditional’, ‘modern’ and ‘contemporary’. WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Participants will experience a range of approaches to making and thinking about drawings. In addition, the potential of words - within and alongside drawings, as lines and marks that shift and shape meanings – will also be called into play. Participants will be encouraged to work on a variety of scales using a range of media in both two and three dimensions.

Wednesday, 15 February10am-4pm (1 hour lunch break)£50 Note: STUDENT/UNWAGED discount of 33%. Use the code: student-33 at checkout.
Guest Series Format: We will be joined by guests from different fields: art, anatomy, fashion, and graphic novels. each of whom is committed to drawing. The format for the Guest Series will be for each guest to give a talk about how drawing relates to their own work and field, then at a later date they will lead a day long drawing workshop based on their practice.

BIO
Chris Francis is an arts educator, illustrator and co-founder of ArtPedagogy and PhotoPedagogy, two popular online resources for artists, educators and students. Chris best summarises his creative practice as ‘serious mischief’ – an ongoing quest to unpick art and art education via thinking hard coupled with less predictable actions and collaborations, be it material-led play, automatic drawings, collaborative interventions, or throwing a timely spanner in the works. Instagram: @artpedagogy
