WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
We will start this workshop by going on a short walk with Issey Kang,
focusing on the “macro and micro of looking”, using one piece of paper
to draw our surroundings, and another to draw objects. Once we are back
in the studio, these drawings will be used to create a collaborative
scene, with objects populating the drawings of our surroundings,
becoming markers of what we saw on our walk. Issey’s workshop with us
will approach a psychogeographic exploration of place through drawing.
Materials are included.

BIO
Issey Kang is an artist based in London, she graduated from Chelsea College of Art last year. “Sculpture
is at the forefront of my studio practice with undercurrents of drawing
and writing. Using objects from city landscapes both concrete and
natural: birds, gates, street lamps and stars form connections between
time, seasons and the cosmos. The visual references, metaphors,
narratives and emblems which comprise the nexus of my work, echo a world
ordered yet unexplainable. Aiming to encompass a range of ideas
delineated, but not defined. What interests me is the myriad of
possibilities and occurrences of life-present and past, life’s
complexity, diversity and contradiction.”
