Workshop: Collage and Composition
Joana Galego
with Eye to Pencil
Part of Workshops
Eye to Pencil Studio
Join artist Joana Galego for a workshop that explores the potential of collage to edit drawings and navigate the imagined space one can create on paper.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Joana Galego is an artist who frequently returns to collage to compose her work. Throughout this workshop, she will explore the potential of collage to edit drawings and navigate the imagined space one can create on paper. We will focus on intensive drawing including observational drawing, drawing from memory and imagination, drawing from photographic and art historical material, and collaging. This will be done in a variety of materials and different approaches to this simple but rich technique, with an attention to the unexpected and the accidental, and their potential to spark our imagination. The workshop equips participants with a set of compositional processes that they can further use in their own personal work.
Materials are included.
