WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Centred around the eraser as a way to
make the drawing process malleable and fluid, Jonah explores how
reduction affects image. Each participant will bring a figurine as well
as a black and white photo which will be used to draw from alongside an
eraser. This process of erasure to Jonah, is in kinship to painting.
Through exercises which explore short and extended ways of reductive
drawing we’re prompted to think about how we create space through
drawing but also by using the white of the paper.
Materials are included.

BIO
Jonah,
a Slade Fine Art graduate, is primarily a painter whose drawing
practice feeds into his painting. His work is autobiographical, making
paintings as a way of processing his emotions and as a space of
contemplation. His more recent figurative work shows an interplay of
personal narratives and wider culture conversations, psycho-sexual
relationships, archetypal figures and symbols.
