Workshop: Floating layers: rubbings and texture
Lucas D’Praser Corp
with Eye to Pencil
Part of Summer Evening Workshops
Eye to Pencil Studio
In Lucas D’Praser Corp’s workshop we will be taking rubbings from various surfaces in the studio and Exmouth market and combining them with observational drawing.
Lucas has recently been taking rubbings from logos and surfaces that he encounters on walks in Newcastle and London, and incorporates them into his drawings. He borrows and recycles imagery from advertising, coins, street signs and other ephemera in his works which evoke layers of memory.
Lucas is studying fine art at Newcastle University. He is showing drawings at The New Bridge Project in Newcastle from April 28 - 5 May.
Format: Our summer series of workshops will focus on extending drawing through low-tech, low cost, DIY techniques, with the aim to share skills. Workshop leaders will give a brief introduction to their practice, followed by a short demonstration of their approach with materials. See how emerging creatives are using drawing in their practices, and have a go yourself, to learn the rudiments of new techniques.
Thursday, 30 June
You can sign up to these sessions individually - tickets are £15. If you buy tickets for 3 workshops you can come to a 4th for free - email us to let us know which extra session you would like to do. There is a student discount of 33% on all tickets (code: student-33).
