WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Using sketchbooks, we will produce
energetic abstracted depictions with mark making underpinning our
drawings. Millie will encourage us to work quickly and intuitively,
experimenting through drawing, thinking through making, and adopting a
playful and colourful approach to observation and abstraction.
Materials are included.

BIO
Millie
Gifford is a graduate from Arts University Bournemouth, working as a
painter and producing large scale abstract collage-like paintings,
depicting different viewpoints of organic material;
"Drawing is
essential to my practice, the stepping stone towards full abstraction.
Instilling the energy of my sketchbook within my paintings is essential.
Drawing with paint, via wonky lines and skew-whiff shapes, I can begin
to abstract forms and move away from recognisable features." Instagram: @milliegifford
FORMAT
Our
series of Thursday Evening workshops will focus on extending drawing through
low-tech, low cost, DIY techniques. The creatives leading each workshop are
young and emerging, yet each is working in a strong and accomplished way with
their approach and materials.
Curated
by Alex Heard.
