Part of Evening Workshops
Eye to Pencil Studio
Join artist Rosalind Duguid for an exciting drawing workshop that explores memory, text and the street.
Rosalind prompts us to think about how we capture memories via channels, whether songs, signs, poems or i-phone photos. How does drawing text via memory affect an image and how does the font we pick emote the words we choose? We will explore these ideas using song lyrics, lines of poetry, and the shop signs on Exmouth market.
Tues, 23 January, 6.30-8.30pm
Materials are included£10. Note: STUDENT/UNWAGED discount of 33% Use the code: student-33 at checkout Location: Studio, 26 Exmouth Market, EC1 4QE Access: The studio is on the 1st floor with no lift
Evening workshop format: In this Spring Term of Evening Workshops a flurry of young artists join us in the studio with their ideas on drawing. Looking at the abilities and limitations the medium brings us we will be exploring ideas from girlhood to cartography. We hope to see you join us for abstract animation, collaborative drawing , interpreting the internet and more. Evening Workshops are on every Tuesday from 6.30-8.30pm.
Rosalind is an artist based in Newcastle upon Tyne who recently graduated BA Fine Art at Newcastle University. Her text based sculpture and drawing work explores the captured image in late capitalism. She also has a collaborative writing practice with Ella Burgess, where they imagine near futures of their local area in sci-fi short stories.
Anyone who is interested in drawing or who draws but would like to try out new
materials and techniques centred on drawing.
