Uniting people, pencils and pixels across the globe for the 19th colourful year, The Big Draw team invite you to join us in celebration of our flagship month-long celebration of creativity The Big Draw Festival, this year themed: Drawn To Life: Creativity & Wellbeing.
The event marks the start of the official Big Draw Festival month (throughout October) which sees over 500,000 visitors enjoy thousands of events hosted by Big Draw Co-creators in over 25 countries worldwide. We hope to see you there!
The free launch event has something for everybody… Limber up with larger than life collaborative window and floor drawing throughout the gallery and courtyard or make more mindful marks for those who prefer a chilled Sunday sketch. Get Drawn To Life and be inspired by some of Manchester Art Gallery’s current exhibitions exploring mindfulness including the acclaimed ‘And Breathe….’ or grab a POSCA pen and get in the spirit of ‘Get Together and Get Things Done’ by making your own protest banner!
Prefer a bit more guidance? Then join workshops led by The Big Draw Team and artists: Naomi Kendrick, Jim Medway, Tony Hall, Interference Art, Tavia Panton, Rabia Begum, Sam Hull and Jayson Glyen.
We are also thrilled to announce one of The Big Draw's newest #DrawnToLife ambassadors Gary Andrews, a true champion of the power of creativity for healing, will be inviting you to contibute to a giant collaborative #ThingsThatSparkJoy drawing inspired by his inspirational online series. Having spent his life as an animator, with drawing playing an important role in both his work and home life, his 'Doodle-a-day diary' became a crucial outlet for his grief after the sudden death of his wife, Joy, in 2017. He now continues to illustrate his day-to-day happenings, from the mundane to the extraordinary, the fantastically frank visual diary continues to be a source of comfort and inspiration to his followers all over the world.
We look forward to seeing your #ThingsThatSparkJoy on the day!
Unable to join the launch? Use #DrawnToLife #ThingsThatSparkJoy and tag The Big Draw to contribute to our online gallery on the day - we'd love to see your drawings of things spark joy in your life!
