Workshop: Rubbings (Part 3)
Lucas D'Praser Corp
Part of Thursday Evening Workshops
Eye to Pencil Studio
Lucas D'Praser Corp is returning to the studio for the spring term to run another iteration of his rubbings workshop.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This time however the final outcome will take the form of a collaborative pin board. We will collect textural rubbings from in and around Exmouth Market which will be the starting points for larger drawings. The surfaces of drain covers, doors, and plaques become rich resources to gather information from and to work with on paper in the studio. We will get back into the studio and work into our rubbings, making more consolidated drawings, curated together on a collaborative board. This workshop has been a lot of fun in both the summer and autumn terms last year, and we are really looking forward to having Lucas back in the studio with us!
Lucas takes rubbings from logos and surfaces that he encounters on walks in Newcastle, where he studies, and London, incorporating them into his drawings. He borrows and recycles imagery from advertising, coins, street signs, nostalgia and other ephemera in his works which evoke layers of memory.
