Executive Director, The Big Draw 

To lead us into an exciting future, we are looking for a new Executive Director of The Big Draw, with its continued aim of championing visual literacy and drawing in all its forms.
 
The new Executive Director will set out a strong vision for the growth and sustainability of the organisation, building on its brilliant work that goes back more than two decades.
 
The Big Draw is on a journey of expansion. The services it offers and the sponsorships it has secured are helping reach and inspire new and diverse audiences. As such, the new Director will be joining in a pivotal year that will define the trajectory of The Big Draw over the coming 3 to 5 years.
 
As the head of a small but dedicated team of staff, freelancers and contractors, the role involves not just leadership, but management, operations and communications. We therefore require a passionate and motivated leader, who will also be willing to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in to the inspirational and important work we do.
 
The Organisation: The Big Draw (The Campaign for Drawing) : founded in 2000 by the Guild of St George, The Big Draw is a pioneering visual literacy charity dedicated to raising the profile of drawing as a tool for wellbeing, thought, creativity, social and cultural engagement.
 
  • It is the founding and driving force behind The Big Draw Festival – the world’s biggest celebration of drawing
  • It supports professional and emerging artists through its national contemporary art prize, The John Ruskin Prize and exhibition
  • Through events, awards, and competitions, it creates platforms for anyone who wants to draw, no matter age, background or experience
 
The Role:
 
Number of days: Four days per week, permanent
 
Salary/package: £40-45k FTE pro rata plus 25 days holiday (pro rata) and 8% pension

Location: The Big Draw’s office is in East London at Trinity Buoy Wharf, 64 Orchard Pl, E14 0JW. The Director will be expected to be office based for at least one day per week
