Do you have a question you’d like to ask Philip? Do you have a question about The Big Draw you’d like to ask him? Are you perhaps an aspiring writer or artist that has a burning question about how to get started?
Get Creative and The Big Draw have teamed up with Philip Pullman to encourage you to put your questions to him about drawing, writing and creativity, in a live Twitter Q&A.
Philip Pullman and Chris Riddell at the launch of The Big Draw
On 19 September Philip was a guest of honour at the launch of The Big Draw in Oxford, alongside Children’s Laureate, writer and illustrator Chris Riddell.
They opened the festival with Philip Pullman reading an extract from his Grimm Tales whilst Chris Riddell illustrated it on a big screen. Throughout October, our Big Draw celebrates the theme Every Drawing Tells A Story with over 400,000 people getting creative in events around the world.
Philip Pullman, said: “I’m really looking forward to The Big Draw because drawing is such a pleasure that I want everyone to share it. The feeling of a sharp pencil moving over a piece of good paper is a delight to the hand as well as to the eye. By far the best way to see things clearly is to draw them, and looking and drawing are a key to understanding the world in quite different ways from listening and reading. Literacy is vital, of course, but it would be wonderful to give everyone—adult as well as child—a chance to master picturacy as well.”
When?
Philip will be answering your questions live on Twitter via The Big Draw on Wednesday 14 October between 14:00 and 14:30 BST.
How?
The Big Draw is proud to be a supporter of BBC Get Creative. Find out more on their website.
Although Philip will try to answer as many questions as he can, he won't get to all of them. Questions will be tweeted immediately before the answer, and might therefore be edited for brevity.
